William was baptized at Old Cleeve on 4 Feb 1737/8 the son of Henry Escott and Mary Sully.

William and Mary were married at St Andrew's church in the parish of Old Cleeve in west Somerset on 31st May 1763 and they subsequently had eight of their nine children baptized there.

They are both buried at Old Cleeve, Mary on 24 Oct 1814 and William on 15 December 1825 aged 88. Their abode was recorded as Washford which is within Old Cleeve parish.
