Scrap Quilt Top

scrappy quilt top

For a couple of years I cut all of my small pieces into 2.25" x 2.25" squares and this is the result.
42.5" x 66" which isn't that big.

I tried adding another row of squares all round and then decided to cut the whole thing in half
and I made another full pattern repeat to make it longer.

quilt top cut in half quilt top with new centre
The quilt top cut in half and a new centre section in position.
Cutting in half was quite tedious because all the cross seams had to be opened out and then restitched,
but not really difficult.

The quilt top is now 90" x 45.5" - a good length but a bit narrow for a single bed.
I think the best option for widening it will be to add two rows of dark squares and one rowof light squares to each side.
That will make it 66" wide.
