Robert Roots

My 6x Great Grandfather

Robert would have been born towards the end of the seventeenth century, perhaps about 1690.

The East Sussex House Tax of 1747 for Fletching lists John Roots, Robert Roots Jnr and Mr Roots Sen, Presumably Mr Roots Sen was also Robert, otherwise why did he need the distinguishing title? Either of them could have been Robert born c1690, but as my 5x gt grandfather Robert born c1720 is known to have been living in Fletching at the time of the window tax the assumption has to be that he was Robert Roots Jnr and Mr Roots Sen was his father.

Robt Roots Jnr - 19 lights (windows) - 16 shillings, 3 pence
John Roots - 19 lights (windows) - 16 shillings, 3 pence
Mr Roots Sen - two houses, one with 9 lights, 2 shillings, one unoccupied, not taxed.
