John was born about 1802 in Selworthy, Somerset to John Sedgebear (Sedgebury) and Mary Long. He became a mariner.
His first marriage was to Maria Chapman at St James, Bristol in January 1821. There were no known children to that marriage.
Maria died 1849 and was buried at Bristol St Philip on 12 April.
John remarried to Sarah Parris in June 1850 at St James Bristol. Sarah was the daughter of John Parris and Martha Kent.
John died 1869, Peel Street, Pennywell Road, Bristol and was buried 21 April at Holy Trinity, St Philip.
Sarah died 1888, St Agnes Road, Barton Regis, Bristol and was buried 07 March also at Holy Trinity, St Philip.
