John Haynes & Maria Vickery (Vicary)

Terry's Great Great Grandparents

Maria Vickery was baptised on Christmas Day 1815, daughter of John and Ann Vicary of Alswear, Mariansleigh parish.

I have been unable to find a birth or baptism c1812 for John Ayre Haynes or a marriage between the two.

Maria was with her parents in Mariansleigh in 1841, and with her children in 1851, 1861 and 1871.

In 1851 she was a married householder, but John was not with them. According to son John's marriage certificate he was a commercial traveller and so could have been anywhere. By 1861 Sarah was widowed, but as a Proprioter of Houses appeared to be fairly comfortable financially. There was a John Haynes aged 43 who died in Bristol in 1855.

In 1861 Sarah's niece Florence Marion Vicary aged 11 months was with the family and by 1871 she had become Florence Haynes, daughter of Maria. Florence's birth certificate shows that she was the daughter of John Vicary a commercial agent and Maria Vicary formerly Kemp. Maria (Haynes nee Vickery) had a brother John but he was a blacksmith and married to Dinah Adams, so I suspect that Florence was a relative but not her niece.

Maria died 1874 in Clifton, Bristol.
