Lace Guild Convention 2008

This year Lace Guild Annual Convention was in Sheffield - a nice city but don't ask about their roads and how many times we got lost!

Once there I did two workshops; 'Coloured Idrija' with Malvary Cole and 'Experiment' with Alison Tolson.

Two views of the dolphin motif made in Malvary's workshop.
I prefer it on yellow but the subtle colours show better on screen with the purple background.

experimental flower tote bag

This is the experimental lace flower worked with Alison.
I have pinned it to a cotton tote bag, sent to me by and Arachne Secret pal, because the colours match so well.

Lier is a town in Belgium. Lierre is the French word for ivy and also a form of tamboured embroidery, hence
the design on the bag. Lierre embroidery is often worked onto net to make a lace similar to Coggeshall or Limerick.
