TSP Scrappy Star Quilt

All the blocks have now been received and the top has been put together and is ready to send off to Iminei to work her magic with Elvis.

I had labels pinned onto each block to identify the maker but a couple went astray! I think I have identified each one correctly.

Kenora also made two blocks, both the same, also she chose a white on white print fabric (all the others are plain white) and so I decided to use them for the taggie toy.

This is coming along nicely and all the sashing is complete. Just awaiting the large star blocks from everyone.

We hope to make something like this image found on the web.

Please use a solid plain white with 8 different bright jewel coloured fabrics in a rainbow of colours. Preferably with small all-over or random prints

Cut four white 2.75 inches x 2.75 inches (use for the corners)
Cut eight coloured squares 3.25 inches x 3.25 inches
Cut four white squares 3.25 inches x 3.25 inches.

Cut the coloured squares and the larger white squares into half square triangles.

Use one of each coloured triangle to make the centre pinwheel.
Trim to 5inches x 5 inches.

Sew each of the remaining coloured triangles to a white triangle.
Trim to 2.75 inches.

If you prefer to make by the two-at-a-time method that's fine but you will need to cut eight coloured squares so that you have enough pairs to make the centre pinwheel in 8 colours and have 8 matching colour with white pairs. A little wasteful unless you are making two blocks!

Assemble the block so that each point of the star consists of two matching fabrics.

Including the quarter inch seam allowances the block should measure
9.5inches x 9.5 inches.

The smaller stars are part of the sashing and will be included in the making up of the quilt top.
